Objective

To promote and integrate the Indian Knowledge System into the curriculum, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities to foster appreciation of India's intellectual traditions, cultural heritage, and indigenous knowledge as envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Responsibilities
  • Design and organize activities such as lectures, workshops, and exhibitions related to Indian sciences, arts, philosophy, languages, and culture.
  • Incorporate IKS themes into various academic and enrichment programs.
  • Collaborate with external institutions, scholars, and experts in Indian traditional knowledge.
  • Encourage interdisciplinary research and projects based on IKS principles.
  • Maintain records of all IKS-related activities, participation, and outcomes.
  • Support faculty in integrating IKS content into teaching and curriculum wherever applicable.
Things To Consider
  • Align all activities with NEP 2020 recommendations and UGC guidelines on IKS.
  • Focus on key IKS domains such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Astronomy, Metallurgy, Architecture, Classical Arts, Vedic Mathematics, and Indian Philosophy.
  • Ensure inclusivity and interdisciplinary participation from all streams (Commerce, Science, Humanities, etc.).
  • Engage students through creative and experiential formats such as storytelling, folk arts, traditional games, and field visits.
  • Document and report IKS efforts for institutional records, accreditation, and IQAC.
Protocols to be Followed
  1. Use the IKS Cell seal on all communications, event circulars, and official reports.
  2. Plan and announce IKS-related activities in the academic calendar and event planner.
  3. Identify and invite scholars, practitioners, or artists to conduct sessions or lectures on IKS themes.
  4. Integrate IKS topics into value-added courses, bridge programs, or interdisciplinary electives where applicable.
  5. Submit a report of each IKS activity to the IQAC and Principal within 5 working days of the event.
  6. Maintain a record of attendance, photographs, feedback, and outcome analysis for each activity.
  7. Hold regular meetings of the IKS committee to plan initiatives and review implementation progress.
  8. Submit meeting records and progress updates to the Principal/IQAC by the 5th of every month.
  9. Publish highlights of IKS activities in college newsletters, social media, and the institutional website.
  10. Encourage students and faculty to participate in IKS competitions, research paper presentations, and national-level IKS forums.
